HKFP is seeking applicants for a summer internship program for neighborhood high school students. The goal of the program is to acquaint local youth with:
FOOD SECURITY and
SOCIAL JUSTICE concerns,
and CAREER OPTIONS in these realms.
A stipend will be provided for neighborhood high school students selected for this program who will work on our rooftop farm and at our food pantry and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). The interns will visit other local farms to witness first hand the positive impact of urban farming on low-income communities, the environment, and the economy and will participate in discussions on hunger and food justice with experts from local non-profits and/or universities. The program will run from July 10 - August 17, Wednesdays-Saturdays for a total of 20 hours per week (exact schedule determined upon admission to internship program).
